Are you joining a Zoom online meeting using ICBC equipment or a Virtual Private Network? Here are some common troubleshooting FAQ’s:

1) Browser not supported – if you cannot download the Zoom software onto your work computer to join your Zoom meeting, there is an option to join by internet browser. However, only certain browsers are supported by Zoom, and this method will give you limited features. As per the Zoom website, the “Join by browser” option works best on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Chromium Edge. Internet Explorer (the default browser for ICBC) does not always support the Zoom meeting unless updated to a later version of the software.

Prerequisites:

· Internet Explorer 10 or higher

· Chromium Edge 80 or higher

· Google Chrome 53.0.2785 or higher

· Safari 10.0.602.1.50 or higher

· Firefox 76 or higher

Please ensure your browser meets these requirements prior to the meeting.

2) Camera and Microphone – please test your camera and microphone HERE to ensure your equipment is working prior to the meeting. All too often people experience Zoom audio not working or Zoom mic not working issues during their online meetings. If neither work, firstly please ensure that your device has a camera and microphone built in. Desktop computers often do not have this equipment built in. Most laptops and tablets will have a camera and microphone built in. For more information for troubleshooting camera and microphone issues, click HERE.

3) Citrix and Virtual Private Networks – many organizations use VPN’s to allow employees to access their office files remotely using a secure platform. These systems generally do not provide a good experience using Zoom, and can prevent microphone/camera access entirely. One solution is to access your files prior to the meeting, and to join the Zoom meeting outside of your VPN. If this is not an option, many users join Zoom sessions through the mobile Zoom app downloadable for free on a smartphone or tablet/iPad.

4) Telephone Option – If all else fails and you cannot find a way to join the meeting by video conference, there is an option provided to call in by telephone. This option will allow you to participate in the Zoom meeting. Although you won’t be able to see the participants in the meeting, you can speak and hear the conversation and still be able to join private breakout rooms to have private conversations with your clients.
